Home port South Florida.
Working worldwide.

Our loft sits in Delray Beach, minutes from the refit yards of Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Miami, where much of the world's superyacht fleet winters. When the boat is elsewhere, the shade ships to her. The crew measures, we build, the shade meets the boat.

The build

Specified for a superyacht deck

Every shade is patterned to the boat and finished the way a superyacht deserves. Perfect edges, elegant lines, nothing flapping.

Fabric
Stamoid, or a perforated breathable weave. Stamoid for a fully waterproof shade, or a perforated, breathable weave for light, airy shade. Any color, color-matched to your canvas, cushions, or hull, with the vessel name embroidered if you want it.
Poles
Carbon fiber, telescoping. Light enough for one crew member to rig single-handed, rigid enough to hold a big panel steady at anchor. They pack down small and stow clean. New Carbiepoles in any size, or we shade the poles you already own.
Mounts
Marine stainless, quick release. Engineered to sit flush with the deck and release in seconds. Shade up for the anchorage, deck clear before the anchor is.
Thread
Lifetime PTFE. The seams outlast the fabric. No UV rot in the stitching, which is what fails first on everything else.
Deployment
Minutes, by the crew. The shade tensions tight and clean and stows just as easily, so you can set shade for an afternoon and have the deck clear again before the anchor is up.

Questions

Superyacht sunshade FAQ

Can you ship a superyacht sunshade internationally?

Yes. Superyacht shades are the one product we ship anywhere in the world. Your crew sends us a couple of measurements and photos, we build the shade in our South Florida loft, and we ship it to whatever port or shipyard the boat is in. Med, Caribbean, Gulf, Pacific: if a freight carrier can reach it, we can shade it.

How do you get the measurements if the yacht is abroad?

Two ways, and both work from any port. You can ship us the old shades and we pattern from what you have, or your crew can take simple hand measurements to the poles and hardware already on the boat, with our guidance. Email sunshades@nationalcanvasfl.com with the vessel and what you want shaded, and we will send back exactly what to measure. If the boat is in South Florida, we will come to her instead.

Can you make new sunshades for our existing shade structure?

Yes, and it is one of the most common superyacht jobs we do. If the yacht already has shade poles, padeyes, or an awning frame, we build new shades to fit the existing hardware exactly. The crew measures the attachment points, we build to those numbers, and the new shade goes up tight and clean. No need to fly a crew out or replace hardware that is already right.

What are superyacht sunshades made of?

Premium marine-grade fabrics, chosen for the job: fully waterproof coated fabrics that shrug off weather, or perforated, breathable weaves for light, airy shade. Any color, color-matched to the yacht's canvas, cushions, or hull, with custom embroidery of the vessel name available. Every fabric we use holds its color and strength season after season, stows down compactly, and deploys tight and clean. Poles are carbon fiber, mounts are stainless steel.

Do you install superyacht shades, or does the crew?

Both. When the boat is in South Florida we come to her and install start to finish, scheduled around your itinerary. Shades built for existing hardware are designed so the crew can rig them in minutes: up for the anchorage, down and stowed before you get underway. For a brand-new outfit anywhere else, we can coordinate third-party installation wherever the yacht is lying.

How quickly can a superyacht shade go up and come down?

Minutes. That is the point of the system: carbon fiber telescoping poles, quick-release stainless mounts, and a shade that tensions tight and clean and stows just as easily. The crew can set shade for an afternoon at anchor and have the deck clear again before the anchor is up.

Can you build a sunshade for carbon fiber poles I already own?

Yes. If you bought carbon fiber shade poles, Carbiepoles or any other pole system, and still need the shade itself, that is exactly what we build. Send us the pole positions and a couple of measurements and we will pattern a shade that tensions tight and clean on your existing poles and mounts, in any color, shipped anywhere in the world.

Do you make sunshades for tenders and center consoles too?

Yes. The same shade system we build for superyachts started on center consoles, and you can order a custom center console sunshade online with free shipping anywhere in the country. Same fabric, carbon fiber poles, and stainless mounts, sized for the tender or the family boat.

What does a superyacht sunshade cost?

It depends on the coverage area, the number of shade panels, and how much hardware the project needs. A bow shade for an 80-footer is a different job than shading a full sundeck. Send us photos and rough dimensions and we will quote it quickly and honestly.
