Azimut 80Bow sunshade on freestanding carbon fiber poles

The bow sunpads are the best seat on an Azimut 80, until the sun is straight overhead. We shaded them with freestanding carbon fiber poles and not a single new hole in the boat.

The Job

Shade the sunpads, keep the foredeck clean

Nobody wants hardware drilled into the foredeck of an 80-foot Azimut. So the shade stands on its own: carbon fiber poles, a tensioned panel that pulls the whole system rigid, and stainless fittings sized for the loads a breeze puts into a shade this size.

The crew stands it up in minutes when the boat settles at the dock or the anchorage. When it is time to run, the whole system comes down, the shade goes in its bag, and the foredeck is exactly as the builder intended.

The Result

From the dock in Delray to an anchorage in the Bahamas

The shade travels with the boat. Here she is at anchor in the Bahamas, guests on the bow in full shade all afternoon, and the system stows in a bag when it is time to run.
