Marine Upholstery in Palm Beach, From the Next Town Over
Our shop is in Delray Beach. Rybovich is twenty minutes up Federal Highway, Riviera Beach is half an hour, and North Palm Beach is not much further. This is not a service area we expanded into. It is the county we have worked for fifty-two years.
That proximity is worth more than it sounds on a full boat package. It means no travel allowance in your quote, it means we can come look at the boat quickly while you are still deciding, and it means we can come back with a material sample and hold it against your gelcoat in daylight instead of asking you to choose from a photograph.
Why Palm Beach work looks different from Broward work
Palm Beach County is sportfish country in a way Fort Lauderdale is not. Rybovich built the modern American sportfisherman here, the yard is still one of the best-known refit facilities in the world, and the boats that live in this county reflect that.
Practically, that means more mezzanine seating, more flybridge and tower work, more cockpit and covering-board cushions taking direct sun, wet gear and constant traffic, and more owners who care about matching new work to the joinery already aboard.
It also means more boats that migrate. A large share of the sportfish fleet here runs north for the summer and comes back in the fall, which puts two very different UV loads on the same exterior seating inside twelve months and ages it faster than a boat that stays put. If your boat runs that pattern, say so, because it changes what we specify.
Yards and marinas we come to
- Safe Harbor Rybovich, West Palm Beach. Full-service shipyard with a 150-ton lift. Most of our larger Palm Beach work runs through a yard period here or nearby.
- Palm Harbor Marina, West Palm Beach. Downtown, in the water, dockside measuring and install.
- Old Port Cove and North Palm Beach Marina. Slips to 200 feet, a lot of the county's cruising fleet.
- Riviera Beach: Cracker Boy Boat Works and Safe Harbor New Port Cove. Working yards, and where a lot of the boats we see are already hauled for other trades.
- Boynton Beach, Lantana, Delray, Boca. Inside the same drive. Smaller boats often come to the shop instead.
Real numbers before you call
A full exterior package on a 30 to 36 ft center console runs roughly $7,000 to $15,000. A 38 to 45 footer with console interior work runs $15,000 to $30,000. Sportfish and motor yacht interiors, meaning salon, dinette, berths, headliners and flybridge, start around $30,000 and are scoped per vessel.
Everything is built in Sunbrella Horizon with PTFE thread unless you are matching a dealer or OEM fabric, on closed-cell quick-dry foam with vented and drained bases for exterior seating. You get a fixed price after we pattern the boat, with the specification written out in full.
Full detail is on our full boat upholstery page, and larger vessels are covered on our Superyacht upholstery page.
Marine Upholstery Palm Beach FAQ
How much does marine upholstery cost in Palm Beach?
A full exterior package on a 30 to 36 ft center console generally runs $7,000 to $15,000, and a 38 to 45 footer with interior work runs $15,000 to $30,000. Sportfish and yacht interiors start around $30,000 and are scoped per vessel. What moves the number most is linear feet of bolster, whether foam and substrates can be reused or have to be rebuilt, and stitching detail. We quote a fixed price after patterning the boat rather than an estimate we revise later.
Do you charge travel to come to West Palm or Riviera Beach?
No. Our shop is in Delray Beach, which puts Rybovich about twenty minutes away and Riviera Beach about half an hour, and there is no travel allowance on the quote anywhere in Palm Beach County. Shops bidding your boat from Broward or Miami-Dade generally do add one, which is worth checking when you compare quotes on a full package.
Can you work on the boat at Rybovich or in a Riviera Beach yard?
Yes. We measure and pattern wherever the boat is sitting, build in our Delray Beach shop, and install back at the vessel. If the boat is already hauled for other work, upholstery runs in parallel with almost every other trade, because once patterning is done the work happens off the boat. Tell us the yard window at first contact and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
My sportfish runs north every summer. Does that change anything?
It changes the specification. A boat taking a Florida winter and a northeast summer sees two very different UV loads inside twelve months, and exterior seating ages faster than on a boat that stays in one place. It is also an argument for doing the whole exterior at once rather than piece by piece, because pieces installed a year apart on a migrating boat will not match by the time the third one goes on. If yours runs the pattern, say so up front.
Can you match the new upholstery to the canvas already on the boat?
Yes, and it is worth doing. We build canvas and upholstery in the same shop, so new seating can be matched to an existing Sunshade, bimini or enclosure rather than getting approximately close. If the canvas is also aging, doing both together costs less than doing them a year apart and the boat ends up reading as one piece.
