Yellowfin Boat Upholstery, Built for Boats That Actually Get Fished
Yellowfins do not get bought to sit at the dock. These boats run offshore hard, they carry more people than they should, and the bolsters take a beating that most center console bolsters never see. That is why the bolsters are almost always the first thing an owner calls us about, and usually a year after they should have.
The honest conversation on a Yellowfin is about bolster footage. These hulls carry a long run of coaming bolster, forward and down both sides, and that single line item drives more of the project cost than anything else on the boat. We price bolsters by finished linear foot rather than guessing at a package number, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and decide how much of the run to do.
We are not affiliated with Yellowfin Yachts. We build upholstery that fits their boats.
Why the coaming run drives the number
On a 36 or 39 Yellowfin the coaming bolster run can exceed 70 linear feet once you go forward and down both sides. That is more soft surface than every other cushion on the boat combined, and it lives in direct sun, takes knee and hip contact all day, and gets leaned on wet.
Two things kill them. The faces go first from UV and abrasion, which is cosmetic and predictable, and it is the reason we rebuild them in Sunbrella Horizon with PTFE thread rather than whatever matches cheapest. The backing goes second, and that is the expensive one: once water gets behind the face and sits against the substrate, you are rebuilding rather than recovering.
So the first thing we do is press on a few bolsters and find out which problem you have. If the substrate is dry we recover, which is substantially cheaper. If it is not, we say so, because putting new vinyl over wet backing buys you eighteen months.
The rest of the deck
Beyond bolsters, a full exterior package on a Yellowfin typically covers:
- Leaning post assembly. Seat, backrest, flip-up bolster, and the tackle station or cooler seat behind it.
- Forward console lounge. The forward-facing seat ahead of the console, plus the cooler cushion where fitted.
- Bow seating and filler. Forward lounge, backrests, and the filler that closes the bow into a sun pad.
- Aft jump seats. Fold-down transom seating where the boat carries it.
Interior work on these boats is limited to the console berth on larger hulls. That keeps Yellowfin packages simpler and cheaper than an equivalently sized boat with a cabin, which is worth knowing when you are budgeting.
Yellowfins we build for
- 21 and 24 Bay, 26 Hybrid. Smaller packages, bolsters and leaning post typically.
- 29, 32 and 34 Offshore. Full exterior packages.
- 36 and 39 Offshore. The most common Yellowfins we see, and the longest bolster runs for the money.
- 42 and 54 Offshore. Larger helm assemblies and console berth cushions included.

Yellowfin Boat Upholstery FAQ
How much does it cost to replace Yellowfin bolsters?
Bolsters are priced by finished linear foot, and a full coaming run on a 36 or 39 can exceed 70 linear feet. Recovering sound bolsters is substantially cheaper than rebuilding ones where water has reached the backing, so the inspection matters more than the estimate. A full bolster run on a mid-size Yellowfin typically lands in the $4,000 to $7,000 range, and we will tell you which of your bolsters actually need doing rather than quoting the whole boat by default.
Can you recover my existing bolsters or do they need to be rebuilt?
It depends on whether water has reached the backing. If the substrate is dry and the shape is sound, we recover, which is the cheaper path and the right one. If the backing is soft or holding moisture, new vinyl over it buys you about eighteen months and then you pay again. We press and inspect every bolster before quoting and tell you honestly which ones fall on each side of that line.
What does a full Yellowfin 36 upholstery package cost?
Typically $12,000 to $20,000 for the full exterior: the complete coaming bolster run, leaning post assembly, forward console lounge, bow seating with filler, and aft jump seats. Adding console berth cushions on the larger hulls pushes it higher. The bolster footage is the biggest single variable, so the quote follows an onboard measurement rather than preceding it.
How long will my boat be out of service?
For an exterior package, not long. We measure and pattern in one visit, fabricate in our Delray Beach shop over roughly two to four weeks depending on piece count, then install in a single day. The boat stays in the water throughout and only the cushions leave. If you fish weekends we schedule the install around it.
